Gorilla Gathering message for the week.

I have said it once and I will say it a thousand more times. We live in the greatest place on the planet. We have a couple of families in the area going through difficult times. And I am always humbled and proud of how our community rallies around our own. Gregory steps up. With acts of kindness. With money. With thoughts and prayers. With their actions.
I am SO proud of the response I have seen from not only our students, but from all members of our community. This is the way it is SUPPOSED to work. Communities taking care of their own. Most recently, our student body and staff raised $3,720.73 for the Bryan boys. You may not even know who I'm talking about. They currently live in Tea, SD. But, taking the lead from staff and administration, the school put on a fundraiser. I am blown away by how our student body responded for a family they don't even know. They just knew there was a family who needed a little help and support. I hope we never lose the willingness to help out others.
Our challenge for this week: we have shown we can help out on a large scale. Now our challenge is to help out on the small scale. Find someone who needs a smile, a friend, or a kind word and reach out to them. Call someone who is going through a rough time, or someone who might just be lonely. You never know the difference a smile can make!

Join the Marching Gorillas this Friday, September 26th in Platte for the Missouri Valley Marching Festival. The parade begins at 10:00 a.m. down main street and will feature The Pride of the Dakotas from SDSU as the band of the day. The awards will be right after the parade at the football field. The Pride will also perform for the students and audience.
The City of Gregory has issued a NO PARKING notice for Logan St. Do not park along Logan street in front of the school today, September 24th.

The message was about being a teammate. There are times when you have every right to criticize a teammate, be mad at them, blame them, or even yell at them. This is true if you are on a sports team, class, organization, your job, or with any group of people working toward one goal.
But one thing is true about every great leader and teammate... They don't react that way. A real leader or a real teammate encourages, builds up, and pushes their teammates. Then, they put the team on their backs and lead by example.
Our challenge for the week (which includes me, you, our students and everyone) is to lift up our teammates. Build, lead, and encourage. . . or keep quiet. Those are the only options.
