We didn't have a Gorilla Gathering today as we had our program to honor veterans. But I thought I would share a message for those who could not attend.
We take patriotism very seriously at Gregory schools. We sing the National Anthem together every first day of the week during Gorilla Gatherings. We say the Pledge of Allegiance every day. We discuss Veteran's Day and Memorial Day. Our kids support those celebrations by sharing their music and attending those programs.
We are not a perfect country. There is not a perfect country anywhere. We have many problems. But one thing has always been true: Patriots have always been willing to put themselves in harm's way to protect us and our way of life. There must be SOMETHING about America that can inspire that level of devotion.
As we celebrate Veteran's Day tomorrow, take some time to thank a veteran. They placed the needs of the nation before their own. They are worthy of our gratitude!

The middle school girls basketball team will play at home against Platte-Geddes at 4:00pm in the high school gym.

We will be hosting a Veterans Day Program in the High School gym on Monday, November 10th at 9:00am. The public is invited to attend!
MS girls basketball will be heading to the Wagner tournament starting at 8:00am. 6th, 7th, and 8th grade girls need to be at school by 6:20am bus will leave at 6:30am.
CONGRATULATIONS to our Varsity Volleyball team on their 1st regionals win!
The SODAK16 Qualifier game will be Thursday, November 6th at 6:00pm in Bonesteel. Admission prices will be $6 for adults and $4 for students (no activity passes). Good Luck Spikers!

Gorilla Gathering message for the week:
"The last stroke of the hammer breaks the stone. This doesn't mean that the first stroke is useless. Success is the result of continuous effort."
Many times, we want to just show up and take that "last swing" of the hammer. That's the one that everyone sees and remembers. But that's not where winning or success take place. Winning and success happen in the boring unnoticed actions that are taken for months and sometimes years.
No one sees the 6AM workouts. No one sees the extra reading. No one sees the extra work. It happens over time. It doesn't matter if you're talking about fitness, a skill in school, fixing a bad habit, or improving your character. It happens slowly. Through continuous effort.
This week let's really focus on winning each day:
Show up. . . Relentlessly
Work hard. . . Relentlessly
Stay committed to that new habit. . . Relentlessly
Don't get discouraged by a temporary set back.

This years Winner Elks Hoop shoot will be held on November 29th at the Auxiliary gym in Winner Armoury. This competition is open to all boys and girls ages 8 to 13 years old, this age is based on their age as of April 1st 2026.

Join us at the Gregory Memorial Auditorium tonight starting at 6:30 for our last regular season volleyball games. JV will play at 6:30pm followed by Varsity. Admission is $5 for adults and $3 for students/senior citizens.
Gorilla Gathering message for the week:
A fisherman once described what happens when you catch a bunch of crabs and put them in a bucket. Logically, if all the crabs would just move to one side, they would almost all be able to crawl out of the bucket. A little teamwork would save the vast majority of them. Crabs, however, are incapable of this. As soon as one crab gets to the top of the pile, the other crabs claw and grab at them and pull them back down to the bottom.
Sometimes it's human nature for us to want to tear down others. There is something in us that makes us feel as though, if we can take someone down a peg or two, it will elevate us. This is not true. Life is not a zero-sum game. We are not raised up just because we bring someone else down! On the contrary it is GOOD for ALL of us when one of us accomplishes great things. It elevates ALL of us when one of our own succeeds.
So instead of belittling or trying to minimize the success of those around us, let's try to celebrate their victories. Let's build each other up! Be genuinely happy for others' success.

State Cross Country Meet Information
The State Cross Country Meet will be held in Huron on Saturday, October 25th. Boys will begin their run at 1:00pm. Girls will begin their run at 2:30pm. Best of luck to our runners!
Competitive Cheer & Dance Information
Join us in sending off the Competitive Cheer & Dance team at 7:45am on October 24th! The team will travel down Logan Ave to Hwy 18 then to Main, up Main out of town. Best of Luck girls!

The MS/HS music students have begun their fruit fundraiser, find any music student before November 12th if you would like to order!
Coming up this week: Football will be headed to Tyndal for their 9AA 1st round playoff game on Thursday, Competitive Cheer & Dance are headed to Watertown for their state comp on Friday, and Cross Country are headed to Huron for their state meet on Saturday.
